Llanyravon Surgery would like to welcome all the new patients who have been transferred to our Surgery from the former Cae Teg Practice.

Following the closure of Cae Teg, patients who live in certain parts of Llantarnam, Croesyceiliog and Cwmbran Town Centre have been allocated to us and we will be working closely to try to elevate any concerns and reduce anxiety that may be caused with the transfer and to make the transition as easy as we possibly can.

No two surgeries work the same and every surgery has their own way of running their clinics, emergency and routine appointments, and ways in which they contact their patients, there will obviously be changes with how this is done.

COVID-19

Obviously, the coronavirus pandemic has affected all our lives, and has changed the way in which we normally operate.  We have had to make some changes to how the practice operates to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.  Please do not attend the surgery in person unless you have been asked to attend at which stage you will be given instructions on where to present when you arrive. You will be asked questions to screen for coronavirus, before being allowed into the building.

 You will be triaged before entering the Surgery by a Healthcare Professional and asked some basic questions.  Please maintain your social distance and avoid touching rails, door handles etc

BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT

Our reception team are all trained in Care Navigation.  That means they will ask a few questions when you call, to make sure you are seen by the right person, first time.  This may be with a GP or nurse in the surgery, or you may be advised to contact an optician / midwife / dentist / physiotherapist.

Emergency

If you require an urgent appointment please contact the surgery on 01633 833770 before 10.30 on the day, calls will be triaged by a Healthcare Professional and it appropriate you will be given an appointment for the same day

WE DO NOT OPERATE A TURN UP AND WAIT SYSTEM

Routine

You can book a routine appointment in a number of ways, using My Health Online, by phoning reception on 01633 833770, please note that the telephone lines are much quieter after 10.30am.  Between 8am and 10.30am we mostly deal with urgent medical queries.

Video consultation

We are able to offer video consultations.  If you would like this service, please let reception know when you book.  You will be texted a link to join our virtual waiting room, where the GP/clinician will join you at your allocated time.  You do not need to download any apps, it will work from smartphones / tablets / computers.  You need to be running Chrome or Safari browsers, and enable the use of the camera/video before you connect.

Please note that the above is not currently the situation during COVID and many of the services are not taking place as usual

HOME VISITS

We only carry out Home visits for patients who are housebound and palliative care. If you feel you need a home visit please contact reception as soon as possible during morning surgery.  The doctor may telephone you back to obtain more information.  We expect children to be brought to the surgery where they can be seen quickly and examined in the most appropriate surroundings.  Lack of transport or other inconvenience is not a valid reason for a house call.  In such cases, you may be offered a review at the surgery at short notice, if appropriate.

PRESCRIPTIONS

You can order your repeat prescription by dropping off your request slip at the surgery, there is a box in the foyer and also a dedicated slot in the Reception area (currently not available) You can also use My Health Online.  We will not take any requests over the telephone, due to the risk of error.  Please allow at least 48 hours for it to be processed.

At the time of requesting your prescription please nominate your preferred pharmacy, and once processed, your prescription can be sent directly to the pharmacy for you to collect.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for you to continue using your current My Health Online account, given to you by your former surgery.  You will have to re-register for a new account, we have sent new registrations forms via email to those we had details for.

There is a Pharmacy in walking distance of the practice which is Lloyds Pharmacy Llanyravon Shops. .  

CAR PARK

The surgery has a dedicated car park which is controlled via a barrier system, you will need to press the button for the barrier and will be asked a few details before entering the car park

There are also two dedicated disabled spaces

 DISABLED ACCESS

The main entrance to the surgery has an easy access ramp, and our front door is fully automatic, it should open when you approach.  The surgery is fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act. All consulting rooms are on ground level, we do not have a lift

OUR SERVICES

We offer a full range of general medical services including : Contraceptive Services, Childhood Immunisations, Childhood Health Surveillance, Vaccinations and Immunisations, Minor Illness, Minor Surgery, INR Warfarin Monitoring, Spirometry, ECG, Phlebotomy, Clinics for patients with Long-Term Conditions, e.g. Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Epilepsy, Heart Disease And COPD, Ante-Natal Clinic, Practice Counsellor, Cytology (Smear) Clinic, Travel Vaccine Advice.

We do offer chargeable Non NHS Services e.g. HGV Medicals/insurance reports etc.  

YOUR INFORMATION/YOUR RIGHTS

We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up-to-date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best possible care.

All patient information will be treated in strict confidence. Access to all records will be limited to the people caring for you, including medical secretaries. Sometimes other professionals involved in patient care will need access to the notes, but this will only be done with the express permission of the doctor. We fully abide by GDPR/DPA and Caldicott Principles in the use of information.
